Our CSA runs for twenty weeks, starting in May and ending in September (start date is weather dependent). Members will receive a weekly share, delivered to one of several Charlottesville locations or picked up here at the farm. Delivery locations will not be determined until mid-March. In addition, a weekly reminder and newsletter is sent to members. The newsletter includes produce cost analysis, details of produce storage and information, recipes, as well as pictures and goings-on at the farm. Please refer to our Harvest Chart to get an idea of what we grow and when we will be harvesting. Click here to view Harvest Chart PDF File. Along with our produce, periodically included in the shares are our free-range eggs (we include them as often as we can, but we are dependent on the hens and their productivity levels). Farm Share: $450.00 This year our CSA is offering a Farm Share at the cost of $450.00 (this includes a nonrefundable $30.00 box/carton fee). This works out to $21.00 weekly of produce at retail farmer’s market value. Depending on personal eating habits, two people will enjoy the amount and variety of a Farm Share. Our goal is to provide members with an interesting variety of produce and not overwhelm in any way. Work Share: $450.00
Each year we take a limited number of workshare members—the prior year’s workshare members have first priority. A workshare member contributes approximately 2 ½ hours weekly of their time during the 20-week season in return for a discount to the membership subscription price. Workshare members are considered part of the farm crew, and are asked to follow the rules that apply to the crew. Our crew begins work at 7am, Monday through Friday. We are not taking any weekend workshares. If you are interested in participating as a workshare member, please indicate this in the comments box, along with a phone number, as well as the day of the week you are interested in working. Those interested will be contacted and must go through an interview selection process. When submitting your registration form, please pay the full membership fee, and upon selection a refund of $300.00 will be issued to you on your first workshare day. PORCH DELIVERY VOLUNTEERS If you are interested in being a porch-drop off, please indicate this in the comments section of the registration form. Porch delivery members need to have an area where share boxes can be stored that will be out of the weather and shady. The area would also need to be accessible to members picking up their boxes. Generally, our porch drop-offs are “open” in the afternoons, from noon until 7pm. Porch-drop off members would be responsible for storing boxes during the week (we collect them when we make deliveries). A pick-up list will be provided for you weekly. EXTRA DETAILS MEMBERS WILL NEED TO KNOW On the registration form we ask for your pick-up day preferences. Please note that the locations for deliveries will not be determined until mid-February and a list will be sent to the membership. At that point you may change your day if the location is not convenient for you; our pick-up times will vary per location, but the basic timeframe is noon to 7pm. Farm pick-up times are 2-7pm. All of our delivery locations are in and around the Charlottesville area. We ask that once you have chosen your delivery day that you keep to that day. If you are unable to pick up your share during the season, please feel free to make arrangements with a friend or co-worker to retrieve your share. Please be advised that if you should miss a pick up, the following week will not be a double share.
